Cognitive Integrity and Resistance

Cognitive integrity is the right to keep our cognitive processes out of external influences.

We are currently facing a convergence of technology dangerously pointed at our brains. The exponential improvement of algorithms is pairing with technical advances in neurosciences to gradually unravel the mysteries of our minds. Scientists already successfully associated patterns of brain activity with thoughts of specific objects, emotions, or words. Meanwhile, social media algorithms are silently shifting public opinion towards commercial products or political parties.

The issue is so critical that military experts consider that our minds are the new battlefields of the century. Because the true art of war is to submit without fighting.

But together we have the power to shape the world of tomorrow. Artificial intelligence is still in its infancy. We can regulate it and educate it so that it becomes a benevolent reflection of human intelligence rather than a poisonous competition. And to counteract the influence of algorithms, we can strengthen our critical mindset and our social ties. We must anchor ourselves in reality to survive the upcoming digital storm.

We can lead the way with understanding, nuance, and care.
